About the Event

worldsteel’s Open Forum is a biennial conference that brings together voices from across the steel industry ecosystem and beyond. Like any good story, it brings together multiple perspectives—steelmakers, equipment manufacturers, suppliers, intergovernmental organisations, environmental NGOs, financial institutions, and academia—to explore how the steel transition is unfolding and what comes next. Materials and recordings from previous editions are available on  worldsteel’s website.

This year’s Open Forum follows a breakthrough story arc, beginning with a stocktake of where the transition stands today and moving through the forces shaping its direction. Sessions will explore key themes including physical climate risk, regional decarbonisation strategies, carbon costing, methodologies and definitions, chain of custody, and the practical barriers to scaling solutions—before closing with the open questions and next moves that will define the next chapter.

The conference will bring together the people shaping climate action, policy, markets, and investment in steel. Join the discussion, engage with the big questions, and help set the direction for what comes next.
